Announcing the third annual World Vegan Day Festival in Melbourne! The event will be held in Albert Park on the 30th of October 2005 between 10am and 5pm and will bring together vegans, vegetarians and the wider community for a day of fun, freebies, education and networking, all in a relaxed and festival-like atmosphere. Entry is free and everyone is welcome.

World Vegan Day (November 1st) began in 1994 when the Vegan Society of the UK dedicated a day to celebrate the positive aspects of a lifestyle free from animal products. Since then, World Vegan Day has been celebrated throughout the world in many countries including England, Germany and the USA. In 2003, Melbourne was the first city to hold a major World Vegan Day event in Australia.

With the support of our major sponsors, Soulmama vegetarian restaurant, Avant Card and Tofutti foods, and, we aim for our event to be bigger and better than last year, with more stalls, free samples, activities, information and heaps more people!

Mark Doneddu, Event Coordinator for World Vegan Day sees the community festival as an enjoyable way to bring about change. "We all know the world needs a helping hand. Becoming vegan is a hand up and a positive leap into a better future."

Mark extends an invitation for absolutely anyone to join us at this free festival. "We offer a means and a sense of connection for compassionate and like minded individuals. People hoping for a brighter future will love our celebration."

Our festival is supported by vegetarian and veg-friendly businesses, organisations and networks across Australia. Our aim is to raise awareness of the many positive changes being vegan can bring to the world.
