WORLD VEGAN DAY FREE SPEED DATING.
Organised by Kirstie Henderson and Hayley Pottenger.
Ever found it hard to find a vegan to date? Always meeting meat eaters and wondering when you'll meet that perfect vegan?
Well, wonder no more!
At World Vegan Day, the speed dating is a free event, dedicated to trying to match vegans with other vegans.
There are different times for different age groups, and each age group session goes for twenty minutes.
There will be allowed two minutes for each person to talk to every other person on the opposite side of their table,
ending each round with a whistle. Each person will have name tags, and at the end of the rounds they will write on
a piece of paper which person they were interested in. At the end of the day, WE will contact YOU via phone or email
indicating you of your matches.
This is a great way to meet people with the same values/beliefs as yourself!
World Vegan Day is being held at: Abbotsford Convent. 1 St. Heliers St. Abbotsford VIC 3067 and it is on
26th October, 2008 starting at 10am.
SPEED DATING TIMES:
Same sex: 12pm
Heterosexual:
18-25: 1pm
25-35: 2pm
35-45: 3pm
45+: 4pm
No bookings necessary. For more info call Kirstie: 0432 482 188
Hope to see you there! |

I almost wish I was a single girl so could go along to this. It sounds like lots of fun!
Could I just come along on the claim that I'm "keeping my options open"??? |

| I know! Maybe they can add a "friends" category, so that we can make more friends and partake in the fun?? |

| Any males in the 18-25 category heading along? This could make or break my decision to attend WVD (at extremely busy studying for exams, so need a pretty good excuse to attend!). |

Vegan Speed Dating was fun! However, there were some hitches, the most major of which was this:
When we got texted our matches, more than one person received incorrect details.
I recently spoke to a guy who went on a date with someone and then wondered why he had no memory of her. Turns out he was given the details of someone with the same name from a different age group.
Then when I texted someone giving her my email address, she emailed - and it was a different girl! I'd been given one person's name and a different person's phone number. As you can imagine, this was extremely embarrassing all around as I then had to explain I wasn't actually interested in her...
Could the organisers try to avoid this sort of thing next time? |

Hi Goblin,
Being a first time trial event at wvd, there were bound to be a few hitches. For example, nobody imagined so many people would turn up to the 25-35 age group session! We have just held a debrief with the speed-dating organisers and they noted that some people only wrote their first names on their name tags, which is problematic when you have such a large group and there is bound to be someone with the same name as you. So please know that your concern has been duly noted and they plan to implement a system to avoid this next year Sorry you felt embarrassed... please don't let this put you off attending again next year... single vegan guys are so hard to come by!! |

Yes, I am aware that there were a lot of problems that I want to improve for next years speed dating.
Keep in mind that this was the first year it was done.
In regards to people getting the wrong details. Some people went in MORE than one age group but they did not specify this on their form!!! The person who I think you are speaking of wrote 'whatever' in the section where you are meant to write what age groups you participated in. And i mistakenly thought he was in two age sections where he was only in one.
A lot of people didn't read the forms properly therefore filled out incorrect information, also we had doubles of names and people didn't indicate for eg. which luke they wanted to contact, etc. etc.
SO it was hard to not avoid complications when trying to sort through the 81 forms and preference lists.
Next year we are requesting for more volunteers to help out so I have time to explain how important filling out forms/name tags are. Whereas I didn't have time to talk to anyone because I was too busy running around giving people name tags, sticky tape, forms, collecting forms, etc.
All the people who participated received an email with what we thought we need to improve on for next year, and being it's first year there are a lot of things we want to change.
Thanks,
Kirstie. |

Lay off the organisers!
Remember that they are volunteers, it was a free event and numbers were much higher then expected!
I think you both did a great job with an unexpected and overwhelming demand. |

When the matches for speed dating 2009 will be sent?
Is everyone going to get email, even with no matches just to make sure results published? |
