Q: How do I get maximum benefit from a vegan diet?

A: Eat a varied diet including plenty of brightly coloured fruit and vegetables. Avoid highly processed foods, especially hydrogenated fats. Consume reliable sources of B12 (fortified foods or supplements), omega-3 fatty acids (flaxseed, hemp seed, rapeseed oil or walnuts), selenium (Brazil nuts), iodine (kelp) and vitamin D2 (when sun exposure limited).
